Marine Cruise Control For Trophy Fish

Roy watching the lines for the salmon bite

Presentation of your bait in tidal currents while on a B.C. salt water sport fishing charter is critical for success.  Every species of salmon have a preferred speed of presentation and temp preference. When the bait is 150 feet or deeper below the boat, with tides and currents and with wind in your face, its not easy to keep your boat speed without dedicating all  your concentration to just speed. So we’ve been developing the next level of fishing. No wasted time with a bad presentation. The real deal. Thanks to Electrical PHD, Orest Storoshchuk, we are now testing the first ever marine cruise control based on cannonball speed data. His wizardry is way beyond words!!

For Alberni Charters, getting marine cruise control has been a three step project. First, we installed a working hybrid electric motor: check 1! Next, we installed a speed sensor at the cannonball, check 2! Third, we installed an interface to read the speed data and present it to the signal analyzer in the speed controller with instructions whether to speed up or slow down.  The result is the first in the world right here on a Vancouver Island fishing charter!

I’m a little concerned that with all the fish we will catch, the water levels will drop in the ocean! Seriously, after all that we’ve been through WOW!  Even better fishing ahead.
