Vancouver Island Salmon Fishing has gone to the next level in charter fishing with the hybrid Oracle, a 37 foot ex-Department of Fisheries vessel. The electric hybrid conversion is now complete and phase 2 is next – installing the Sub Troll 900 to monitor boat speed and maximize lure effectiveness.
The critical sockeye fishing speed is 1.6 knots. The flashers start the nice roll that the sockeye like at 1.6 knots so that is where we dial in our boat speed. Depending what you are after is where you set your speed . This is cruise control for fishing. Instead of hills to deal with, we have tides and wind. But speed in fishing is way more critical than in driving . You will get there but if you want to get there with fish, this is what you need.
