Port Alberni Sockeye fishing has begun with the First Nations netting sockeye in the Somas River. Its a typical west coast picture with nets and boats everywhere you look. Hub City Fisheries has parked a vessel for loading the fresh sockeye at the Clutesi Haven Marina dock. On May 24th we witnessed large schools of sockeye between Lone Tree and China Creek. The Department of Fisheries has instituted a 4 sockeye limit to start off the season.
This season is predicted to be the hottest in recorded history and another season of great fishing adventures is around the corner.
