No mistaking the look of this island because it resembles a sail on the edge of the open ocean and the surf line. There are a multitude of various rockfish and other spiny fish, including the cabezon. Cabezon are prehistoric looking and are mostly head and teeth.
We come to Sail Rock for the surfline salmon and abundant halibut. It’s on the edge of the ocean, so good sea legs are an asset! You can always duck around the corner into protected waters. We’ve caught many halibut in the bay beside Sail Rock.
