Lingcod, or ophiodon elongatus, sounds and looks the prehistoric fish that it is, with a mouth full of large needle-sharp teeth. Lingcod are much sought-after for their white, easy-to-cook meat. Females can reach weights of 100 pounds. Lingcod stay in territories around rocky pinnacles throughout Barkley Sound. Lingcod is a favorite of the fish mongers mainly because it’s so easy to prepare. For all of these reasons we are always happy to see one on the end of our line. Definitely a favorite.
